I had the same problem of leaking oil.
The oil coolers gasket is probably just not sealing properly.
For me, I just replaced the whole oil cooler and the leaking oil stopped.
The white smoke is generally not a good sign. Usually it means the car is running rich or theres something wrong with the engine.
The reason you didnt get the low oil light is because the light is not a low oil light. It's a low oil pressure light that lights when the pressure is low. Try maximum braking from highway speeds and the light will pop on when theres not enough oil in the cooler.
Also make sure you're using the right oil. 5W-30.

Guys, i have a query. When i bought pre-ownedg35 around 3 weeks back, the mechanic checked oil and he said it was at good level and good condition as if the previous owner just put it in.
Now that i have completed 1000 miles, should i check it again? Take it to dealer or i can check it on my own?
If i check it on my own, do i put in 5w30 of any brand from walmart/autozone to measure how much did it consume? I don't know what kind and company of oil did previous owner used.
I was just reading here and i am worried about present condition of engine. I can't see any black smoke or anything like that, but i would like to keep it in up and running and not ruin the engine. Please let me know. Thank you

If i use dipstick, how much should it be with respect to the stick?
May sound very novice, but i have never done it on my own, so just being cautious. thanks

That's OK. If you want to do a proper test, fill it to the "full" line (top of crosshatch area) and set your odometer to zero. Check it every 100 miles for a bit until you are satisfied that consumption is within spec. To me a quart within 5000 miles is acceptable. A Quart in 3000 miles is cause for worry. Like I said, mine has 102,000 miles and I use about a 1/2 to 3/4 quart in 7500 miles.

Beats my original revup POS and my 2008 warranty replacement long-block too...lol

I do believe that 90% of ring break-in occurs in the first 25 miles of driving. You should have high pressures on the rings to make good solid contact with the cylinder walls.
I drove 150 miles home from the dealer at 90 mph +.

You're supposed to wipe the dipstick clean and then insert it back in to get a better read.

When i got it checked a month back, the mechanic did the same. he didn't wipe it out. I just followed what he did.
I will check it tomorrow. hopefully should get a clearer picture. thanks

Yes, LEVEL GROUND, wait 10 minutes (the first time), pull the stick (PITA), dry, and re-insert (real PITA) and pull. Read it quickly. It should be in the upper half of the "crosshatched" area. The crosshatch represents one quart. So if it's at the bottom of the crosshatch, you need to add a quart.

So, i managed to check it today noon. The car isn't moved from its place for past 15 hours.
Some observation. The oil traces were upto half crosshatch. Where it says H. The bottom part is a little darker color. Should i add more? I am planning to get it changed next weekend. Should it be good till then?
Please view the pictures below. Not the best quality of photos, please pardon for the same. Would appreciate your feedback.
Thanks
