Keep in mind that many customers do not eye the mechanics as their cars are serviced. A majority of customers are not "enthusiasts" that bring their own premium oil/filters, but rather folks who just need to keep their cars in running condition. With that in mind, I can't say that my little testimony can speak for all Jiffy Lubes. This one in particular is one of the rather large ones with about 8 or 9 lifts in the garage. I'm not sure if it is franchised or not, but it is in a rather well-to-do area which gives the impression that it would be slightly more credible than others. In any case, it's left enough of a shadow on me to avoid the chain. That's business for ya

and yes, it costs $60 at the one i take it to.

I would avoid a business with a tarnished rep to begin with. I am into minmizing risks, not adding them on.

there's the jiffy lube under cover investigation footage...
I bring it to the dealer, only because for $37...that is super cheap, considering It's cheaper for me to have them do it, than to spend my time on a saturday buying oil and filter, jacking the car up and removing the under tray, oil disposal is a hassle, etc... I'd rather spend that time on the weekend w/ my family and friends...I used to change the oil on all my vehicles myself, but now it's just more cost effective to have the dealership do it... $37 is cheap. (oh, and I always skip the free wash)
