ok, i'm not an electrical engineer, but common sense tells me that aluminum foil or metalic washers will do more harm on a bare circuit board then tissue paper...IMHO

I had trouble with my case closing too...so I needed to dremel the case more and more. I accidentally burned a hole inside the case...minor thing, but it's not water resistent anymore.

Even now, when I remove the case to make adjustments, it is difficult to line everything up perfectly. Sometimes the buttons aren't sitting right and then the buttons are already depressed. But once you have it set right, no problems...my range seemed to have improved for some reason lately.

Not sure how close the chip needs to be to the key in order to bypass the immobilizer. I had that happen as well when i did a quick test. However, once i dropped it in the mazda case, it worked fine.

Re: the buttons...did you solder a wire to each end of the button....diagonally? Do the buttons click when you push down? I melted one during an attempt and the button would not click down. Also, if different buttons's wires touch one another, then it may not work.

I also wondered where I could get additional buttons - no one here could tell me where.

hmm..thanks for the tip on the chip. i think the buttons are ok..they all click, and i soldered them on diagonal prongs. is there some special way they need to go on? i soldered the wire onto the metal lookin thing on the underside of the button.

Did anyone try to mod the OLD fob into the new G35 FOB?
we can simply just swap the parts?

mine is still spotty - I've retired it for now and am using my other key fob. I need to take it apart and try to improve it...one day I'll do it.

Do you get 10ft all around? Or certain angles? Depending upon the angle I can get some distance...I think the farthest I've ever got was maybe 30ft. Two places: 1) rear of my car, driver's side, about a foot to the left of the car, 25 ft back; 2) front of car, driver's side, about 10ft to the right, 25 feet away...but everywhere else is really bad.

hmm mine seem to work all around, I haven't really noticed it working in certain spots around the car. I just took mine apart to attach the original antenna (I peeled it off from the old remote) i have to test it out tomorrow.
