***update on my MAZDA flip key FOB mod. alternative to nissan key fob.
update on reception:
I improved the reception by using the antenna from the OEM remote. I had to peel it off and scrape off the top layer to expose the metal in order to solder it on to the board. I can go about 30 feet or so. Still not as good as OEM but it's good for how I use it on daily basis.
remember putting the remote under your chin while you press the button greatly increases reception

I found this mod, which looks like our remote so it should help extend the range. ill try in a few days, but its almost the same as accordfreaks method.

Anyone that"s done this mod willing to just do my circuit board for me? I attempted to do it myself, I dremmeled the mazda case and had the top of my key cut, but I tried soldering and totally screwed the board up. I'm willing to pay or maybe trade for some Philips 5000k 85122+ bulbs if anyone needs some. I tried contacting lilsnoozer but he hasn't been replying to anyone about this mod.

Not sure about doing "just" the circuit board though... If I could get the circuit board done, I could do the rest. I think it's the circuit board that takes the most time.

Yeah I tried lilsnoozer a few times but no reply. I might end up giving it (the board) another try. Accordfreak, where did you get the wire you used, and what gauge is it? Also does it matter what type of solder is used?
Move this to DIY..
Don't you need the little chip on our key? the green thing?
oh and the key metal is so soft, it's easily cut with dremel. dont handle it too soon though...i burned myself doing that...haha

What about the key? After getting an infinity key cut to fit my ignition and cutting it down to fit the new fob will it start the car? I thought we had some special chip built inside the key for starting the car? Cutting the key to fit inside the mazda fob will damage that chip, no?
