5AT downshifting by just moving lever?

its the same thing if ur going 40 in second, u cant put it in MM and shift to first...

It all the depends on the speed you are traveling at. Usually at lower speeds (anything under say 90) it will downshift to the next lower gear.

Example. You are in 4 in Drive. then you hit it to manuel it will downshift to 3.

But if you are on the highway going like 100, and you put it to manuel, it will stay in 5th. It is all speed dependent.

It will downshift automatically IF you wont redline at whatever speed you're going. Its not gonna downshift and blow up your engine.

The only thing to watch out for is, if you forget the auto downshift and you downshift it again to 3rd.

I thought when i was cruising in my car i was always in 4th on the freeway. This is so when you step on the gas the car still has some torque to play with if you are trying to pick up some speed
