Weird Brake issue

A few months back Infiniti told me I have about 80% left on the front pads. A few days ago my front right starts making a grinding sound. So today I decided to pull off the wheel and caliper to inspect these pads to see what is up.
To my surprise they have plenty of meat left on them. What gives? I reinstalled them and all seems well. They have a slight squeak now, but that should be fixable with some brake cleaner and some lube.

I think it's weird, what do you all think?

I had the same problem on mine, and it seemed like it was grinding also. Come to find out it was because of my rear tires being worn out. So it made it sound like a grinding sound when I hit the brakes from like 20mph to 0. Hope that helps.

My tires still look good. The sound only happened at a very low speeds, less than 1 or 2 mph.
