Question Little Tips To Maximize Horsepower W/out turbo/supercharger

Hey, I bought an 04' coupe and just purchased a Stillen cold air box hi-flow air intake with the z-tube (only produces 6hp at best around 5000rpm). I'm looking for any tips on small mods I can do to increase horsepower without compromising my engine's 'health'...

ps used the "search" function, just hungry for the max amount of knowledge

The plenum spacer is one of the best bolt on mods. Exhaust, headers and intake will also help.

Agreed. Don't think of the plenum spacer as adding HP per sé, but rather freeing up untapped power. Regardless, plenum spacer is a good mod for a reasonable price.

Thanks for the info Ragin' - just read you have the clear Nissan corners, were they tough to install?

Another good, cheap mod, especially for an AT, not sure if you have AT or MT, is a grounding kit. Apex'i came out with a good one and Gordgee's Grounding Gear is among the more popular as well.

Some mag just did a test and tune on a G37 and the grounding kit netted 4 or 5 horses I believe, helps with smoother shifts in an AT as well.

LOL pgh see I'm already asking about mods! It starts with the "little mods", and always gets out of hand!

to get the most power you will need to build a full N/A engine and that will cost as much as a vortech sc and only get around 300 to the rear wheels

Is there a DIY on the plenum spacer? Will the plenum void your warranty?

Just a few mods needed....!

You've got the Stillen CAI/Z-Tube that's a good first mod. Next mod, and the
best for your $ is the MotorDyne 5/16" spacer. It comes with everything you'll need to install....great instructions too. 661-993-5111 Following the spacer a cat-back exhaust along with
high flow cats should complete the needed mods to give you noticable HP
gains. Headers are not worth the PIA to install! Good Luck and Welcome to
Driver....
