quick help can i use these tire size on my stock 18s?

quick help can i use these tire size on my stock 18s?

right now i have
fronts: 225/45/18
rears: 245/45/18

can i use
fronts: 225/40/18
rear: 245/40/18

reason i ask is because..the 40 series tires cost alot less then the 45s...can i use 40s? or will that be too thin?

quick help please!! i need to buy tires before the week is over..gota drive my car down to LA fa a road trip. (im from the bay area)

thanks for ur quick repsnse...will the wheel gap be noticably bigger? will it look funny/werid cuz i am on stock height. does anyone have stock 18s with 40 series tires?

You can put those tires on, but personally I wouldn't. I think they're just too small. The 245/40 is about an inch smaller in diameter than the 245/45, so yes, the wheel gap will be about half an inch bigger, and your speedo/odo will be off by 2-3%. The fronts are really going to look small with the stock height. I think the 225/45's already look too small, and the 40's are about .9 inches smaller than that.

As for prices (from Tire Rack, tires only), the cheapest 40's are cheaper than most 45's, but most decent tires are about the same as stock sizes/prices would be. For all 4 tires, Kumho SPT's are only $14 more, Bridgestone RE760's are $28 more, Eagle GT's are $42 more. The cheapest 40's are about $400 for a set of 4, but you can get some Hankook S1 45's for the same price right now (on sale).

Call and ASK them period... They know there stuff I would ask them BEFORE you buy................ if anything for piece of mind/insurance........
