Rhino Ramps

I'm going to start changing my own oil and I figure Rhino Ramps are the cheapest and easiest way to go about getting the car off the ground. My questions is that there are two types though, the 8000 and 12000. The numbers refer to the weight limits, and I know the 8000 is more than enough for a G. The problem though is that they say the 8000 max tire width is 7.5". The G has tires about 8.6" wide, so that would put you into the 12000 which can take tires up to 9.5" wide. So, does anybody use the 8000's with any problem? or should I spend the extra $20 for the 12000?

I use the 8000's just fine on my 235 width tires (9.25" width). You have to be very careful with placing them, since the tire basically goes from edge to edge, but it's still narrower than the ramp.

I have them and use them on a 255 tire and I've never had a problem.

its kinda hard to get jackstands on the rear when you have the front on ramps

I usually do ramps for an oil change

I don't see how you would need jack stands, the car isn't going to fall off the ramps like it could a jack. Maybe some wheel chocks to be sure it doesn't roll back, but your e-brake should handle that. I suppose better safe than sorry though.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll go with the 8000 since my fronts are 225's so that puts them at 8.86" wide.
