If so, which oil filter and from what car?

Is it recommended to run a bigger filter? Won't hurt anything will it?

That is a legit concern. I'd imagine the larger surface area of the filter would result in a slightly lower pressure drop across the membrane resulting in perhaps slightly lower engine oil pressure? But i'm talking 1-3PSI, which may be negligible in the grand scheme of things.

Of course, without an OP gauge, and running both filters back to back, hard to say if this is true.

larger filter means more media...more media is good.

i use the filter for the fx45 which is a Mobil m-110. It's about an inch longer than the recommended filter for our 3.5 liter (m-108).

Its a great idea... I have done it with every car I have had..

Doesnt mean you can prolong the oil changes but will keep the oil cleaner for the time/miles driven

A lower pressure drop across the media could result in a higher engine oil pressure in a full flow system. In a partial bypass system with filtered oil flow bypassing the engine the reverse would be true unless orificed to prevent it.

It's the M45 filter.

I've'd used nothing else since I got the car
