DE to HR swap worth it?

Recenlty, I bought a low mileage motor out of a 2008 g35 (HR motor). It was a decent price, so I felt I couldn't let it go. I would like to build the motor and swap into my 2006 5AT(DE motor). A few questions:

1. Will the HR motor work with the DE intake manifold? (I.e. the single intake)
2. What will need to be done in order to make the swap work? (I.e. Are all brackets the in same position/ Are all of the harnesses the same?)
3. Do I need to swap the ECU with one out of a 2008 G35? (If so, will it plug right in to my factory system with no problems?)
4. Is the swap worth the effort?

I browsed around using the search, found some information, but I would love it if someone could shed some light on the subject.

I would think its not. You will spend a lot of money and time getting this to work. You could have just TT your current engine. But keep us posted~

you'll get more responses on my350z.com. my gut says this swap isn't worth the effort.

if i were gonna do a swap, i'd drop in a badass engine like the one in a prius

6MT Coupe
HR block has a taller deck height than the DE. Ever notice the 07 350z's with the bubbled hood and G35 sedans redesigned when the HR debut in those? That's why. Think you'll need the HR ECU too. Don't believe the intake collector from a DE will plug/play/match-up on a HR. Must stay with the HR collector and dual intake set-up.

G/L stuffing/retrofitting that into a G35 coupe. I've never seen it done.

Anything's possible, but at what cost? Sell the HR motor and make a profit, put that $$ into your DE (current) motor. I've never seen this swap done either! Ask this question over on www.infinitihelp.com you'll probably get the same answer.

Thanks for the replies! If height is a problem, I could always just use a the Stillen hood (used with stillen roots style supercharger). Will the HR's ECU just plug in to where my DE's ECU is?

This. Unless you have the skills and time to DIY, and you are determined to do it because it's different. If you're just looking for more power, I think a simple ST or TT setup is the way to go.

RB Swap is definitely the way to go if any motors going in. I guess since you have the motor already you got a killer deal on it, but still, there's going to be a lot of work involved for what, 25whp and 5wtq and better mod- ability?

The Silvia guys have a 165hp motor stock^. Their incentive to go from 165 to 306 is a little more than going from 280 to 306.
