I had a dream that night that I woke up and drove by the chevron by my house and gas was $3.59 & I went and bought 100 gallons & stored them in my back yard haha, you know gas is expensive when u dream of it being $3.59 haha

I was just wondering what grade of gas all the poor Infinit drivers were using now that prices were so high.

And deep down, I think there are a lot of people out there who will do anything their manual says....without knowing or asking why. If there are really good, solid reasons for running high test, then so be it. If not, why waste that extra......$5.....per tank.

Oh, and I have two Infiniti's and both have to drive 80 miles a day. That's 160 miles per day for the math impaired. Assuming around 22 mpg on both cars the difference between premium and regular comes out to about $3.50 a day. That's $105 a month. To put that in perspective, that's about 4 bottles of Jack Daniels a month. See what I'm saying?
Hmm, well I can certainly help you out with that dilemna. Relatively new G owner, could certainly use some new wheels. PM me with your offer lol! See the thread I created last week (mods around $100 or less) ha ha!
Seems some people got their panties in a bunch about the type of gas they put in their car. I think what we can learn from this and similiar threads is that it will always come back to personal preference and opinion. I drive about 12k a year since I have a company vehicle so the cost difference in buying premium for the G would be minimal. I will use it in hopes that it does protect my higher compression engine which in the long run will lessen the likelyhood I have any engine problems down the road. Another issue that people don't seem to think about is that 87 is going up in price too. People who dirve Hondas, Toyotas, etc are still complaining about gas prices too, I think even more so than us who use premium bc we expect to pay more anyways. Again, just my thoughts, I'm sure some people may think otherwise but is that the great thing about this forum, we can share our ideas and decide for ourselves what is best for our own ride.

Maybe fuggedabout the rpm solution. My step-daughter (16) was with us for the weekend and we spent a few hours on the local roads practicing. Of course, she never exceeded the limit, which is 80 kph (50 mph). Now, normally I get around 12 L/100 kms (how we measure gas consumption here). I just now filled up (45 litres for $62.00, 89 grade). At 450 kms that gives me a significant improvement to 10 L/100 kms.

So it looks like it really comes down to speed rather than rpm - in the 5AT.

You think it's going to be like before where more and more people are going to take public transportation again when gas goes higher, which would also affect the businesses b/c people don't want to drive? Like for me, i will be taking the bus to school. I can also take it straight to the mall and back as well. it will be $1 round trip for me.

I've never taken a bus! But really I'm not hurting for money that bad anymore (last 2 months or so were pretty bad) so I think i'll be okay unless gas hits over $5.50 a gallon cause that would be more than 100 a tank lol if it gets to that point I will either DD some old stick shift beater that gets 30+mpg or just drop the G and get a hybrid (My sister gets 900 miles to a tank in her altima hybrid!)
