Who is still using premium gas.
Right. The octane rating has nothing to do with how 'good' or 'clean' the fuel is.
As for ethanol, well, I'd love to avoid it but I do not think I've seen ethanol free gasoline around here in years.
As for riding the bus, I live in the sticks. The only buses are yellow and they generally don't pick up adults.

My last two tanks of Mobil premium have been pinging slightly, from two different locations, I probably will not be buying Mobil premium any longer. Filled up at Shell last night for $3.97 a gal, I'll see how that runs, for that price it should add 10 hp
Gas prices went up 30 cents a gallon here in the last three days, more for midgrade and premium. Its gone up about 60-70 cents a gallon in the last month.
Who is still using premium? Anyone using regular?
I've been using midgrade mostly but to be honest, I cannot hear or feel any difference between regular and premium even. No knocking. No loss of power. Mileage might be a little less with regular. I'm thinking about using regular for a while. Is there any harm if you don't hear any knocking?
What about octane boosters?

*Edit: Also check out Marvel Mystery Oil. My Dad just showed me this stuff and it is great for keeping your engine running smooth.

Actually for the G the best gas you can get is Premium with NO ethanol. There are only 2 store near where I live that have ethanol free gas, one is the old gas pumps where the numbers spin and you can not pay at the pump, kind of a hassle, but I noticed a big difference in this and the may contain up to 10% ethanol gas at most stations. They say ethanol is bad for any vehicle other than one made to run on ethanol or one of the "flex fuel" vehicles. My understanding is running 10% ethanol fuels is one of the reasons we have to clean our throttle bodies.
Isn't it F'd up how they raise the price of gas during the summer when ppl travel more. Gas should be back down to $2 per gal on premium considering there are new oil wells popping up daily in the Dakota's.
I'm strongly opposed to the usage of ethanol in fuels mostly because is drives up food costs. Secondly, it takes a significant amount of subsidation and energy to make the stuff. Without government subsidies, ethanol would be a loser on many more levels.
Here are facts and truths about ethanol in fuel:
1) Most gasoline you buy will have anywhere from 5 to 10% ethanol.
2) Depending on the car's age and running condition, a 10% ethanol mix can reduce mpgs by 2% to 20%.
3) Ethanol is used to replace MTBE, an octane enhancer. Ethanol has a very high octane hence the reason why so many modded turbo owners kill to have E85 stations around them.
4) Ethanol has a lower BTU hence the reason for the reduced MPGs.
5) Ethanol reduces the shelf life of gasoline from years to mere days. E10 ethanol has a shelf life about 90 days.
6) Ethanol can take on water molecules, saturating your fuel with water. This is why it's not good to run low levels of fuel in your tank for extended periods.
7) Most any car built after the mid 90s can handle E10 without concern of fuel system damage.
8) Many states do not require ethanol content labeling. No label does not mean no ethanol.
9) The amount of ethanol in your fuel is often mandated by the state you live in.

I'm running 89 for the winter. As soon as it warms up the CBR will be back on the road. 44mpg and runs good on 87. If gas stays near or above $4 I'll even ride in the rain. Last time I did that was when I was student out in Ore.
I'm pretty sure it says no more than 10% for my 06, but I'm not 100% sure. But its kind of like what people were saying about not worrying about gas prices since there is nothing you can do. Why worry about the ethanol since it seems impossible to find gasoline without it.
One of the recent big three car mags is predicting that the G coupe will have a Daimler deisel in the near future. It might not be very fast but it can pull a plow and you get to buy high price deisel fuel. I love diesels.....in tractors, Dodge Cummins and school buses.

Yeah, it depends on the state you live in. In VA they have to have the ethanol stickers, I know one of the stores near my house does advertise on their sign....Ethanol Free Gas. If you ask they should tell you.
