Either a lancer GTS or a mazda 3 or if you have any great suggestions that are new around 19,000 or less. I just made a thread.

bryman<-----suprised that a 227 hp WRX feels faster to you than a 280 hp G35

if you read my prior post you would see that my wrx had 293 whp, which is a decent amount more than a stock G.
and the 2005 G has 298 hp fyi.
Even stock for stock the cars are about dead even.

1) I did not read your prior post
2) 293hp is quite a bit more than the stock 227hp, obviously. I'm not sure what the WRX weighs, but I'm sure it's lighter than the 3400 lb G (at least that's what my '03 G35 6MT sedan weighs), likely resulting in better acceleration.
3) If a stock G has 298hp, how is 293hp more?
4) I would be curious to drive a bone stock '05 G 35 6MT vs. a bone stock '05 WRX M/T. I think the subie's 4WD would launch better, but the higher HP in the G would make for a fun finish.
5) BTW, I was quoting the 6MT SEDAN hp numbers (the coupe numbers are indeed higher).
No disrespect here, bro.

I drove an '05 WRX STI and I KNOW it's faster than a stock G

293 WHP is more than 298 BHP.
You're right, the WRX is prob about 100-200 lbs lighter.

I think they would be pretty close stock for stock not giving the advantage to either. WRX = better off the line like you said. G prob performs better after 60 mph.

But i forget what a stock wrx even feels like lol

So far i love the G though. Minus this A/C problem i'm having

Ahhhh, I didn't see the WHP vs. BHP distinction. Of course, you'd be correct sir

I'll bet your subie was a fun drive. I'd be curious to know how similar it feels overall vs. an STI (steering, power, handling, braking, accel, etc)

I miss the power of the wrx (293 whp)- hasn't been sold yet....but everything else seems much nicer on the G so seems like a good choice

If you own a 1st Gen G I highly recommend knowing how to work on them. The compression rods are all labor. Unless they rust to the body, it's a SUPER easy job with an impact. I did them in a few hours including driving to the shop for bushing install.

I will agree, my car had 88K when I bought it, and needed way more work than a normal car would have needed at this mileage (all the bushing up front, really?). But it also lacked some reg maintenance items.

They cars are generally a breeze to work on, which is their saving grace IMO.

I hope you enjoy your new car, and don't be afraid of the little problems. They are usually remedied easily provided you have a few tools and some time. This forum is a great place to learn about your car.

Don't pay attention to any crap in the above posts. Drive your car and enjoy it. It's a great car and performs very well. Don't drive yourself nuts trying to identify problems described by Bob the pizza guy cause his brother in law heard it. These are really fun cars to drive. if it does break...fix it and drive it to 125 thousand miles. Good luck and enjoy!!!

My goal was when I bought my G, and still is,to drive it until it blew up or hit 200K miles. I'm almost halfway there and it still runs and looks like new.
