Thinking about buying an 05' G35 6MT.

Very much so looking forward to picking up a used '03-'05 6MT Coupe in about 2 months. I just wanted to ask the veterans what to look for when purchasing this car. It's going to be through a used car dealership. What should I look for when I test drive the car? Listen for certain noises? What to avoid? How to check whether or not the clutch and engine is still in good condition? I already know that there are some oil consumption issues with the G. However, I do not mind checking my oil level regularly and pouring some more in every so often. Any kind of advice will help! Even if it does not only pertain to the G but to buying a car in general.

Thanks in advance.

Here's my advice. If you don't want to endure:

--sleepless nights waiting for parts to arrive
--stressing out because your pictures aren't just right
--getting **** from your friends and family for spending too much time on your car
--avoiding work because you're addicted to this site
--constantly turning around to sneak a glance as you walk away from the car because
she's just so damn sexy even after owning her for 2 years
--constant compliments
--hot ladies pointing and smiling at you as you pass them
--getting grumpy when you check your bank account and you never seem to have
money left because you keep finding a new mod you just HAVE to have

then delete your Driver account. If all of that sounds good then you're in the right place.

haha, that's awesome. I can honestly say that ALL of these things have applied to me more than once since the day I bought my car. The one I really like is the one about turning back to sneak a glance as you walk away. I'll admit that even I thought I was wierd for doing that......glad I'm not alone!!

Happy to bring some humor to the forum.

I actually had 5 or 6 more but thought people would get bored halfway through and not read it.

OP...i would look more towards 05-06 models as they have a few less problems that i am aware of (cirucit board failure). Generally the first year or two of a car has some more bugs.

if you want to test the engine get a compression test done at a local shop that you know of and have them look over the car as well.

I just picked up an 05 coupe as well.

You need to make sure you listen to the engine and drive the car before you buy. Even if you are okay with checking oil and topping off does not mean the last guy did the same thing. I ran into some cars that seem like they were toast due to Oil consumption issues and no matter how much oil you pour the engine needed head work.

You want to call infiniti dealership and find out what services have been done and what should be done on the car for mileage. Act like you are the second owner and want to do find out what maintenance you should do. Service advisor will be glad to recommend the fluids and such but during the conversation ask him if it has records of oil changes, or any work done. Find out if the vehicle has been in the shop for Oil consumption or tranny issues.

You want to get a late model 05 so you have the last revision tranny cd009. The 2005 model had major changes and 2006 for coupe had new lights. Keep an eye on mileage since high mileage like 70-80k means you will be looking into Brakes, tires, Belts, Fluids, Compression rod bushing, Lower control arm bushing, Axle clicking (TSB). This car will need some maintenance but nothing out of the ordinary that is extremely expensive like german vehicles.

I put a down payment on a vehicle and went to go check it out in person and it was in horrible condition and you will see what i mean.
