G35 for a High School 17 year old?
#136
I just turned 18 and my dad just gave me his 06 G35x. Honestly I'm too scared to drive my car like an idiot cause my parents made it clear, if I bring them home a speeding ticket not only am I paying for it, but I'm getting my car and license taken away by them for a long time. Also. my dad let me take it out to the track with him so I could get all the thrills I wanted in a safe place Gas sucks so take that into account, I'm SO greatful my parents pay for gas. G's are really safe and not TOO fast so as long as you can afford the gas/insurance why not?

Man this thread is old. But if you're still looking, i'll add my 2 cents.
There are very very very very few high schoolers who will act responsibly when given a car like this.
Like someone mentioned. They might be a good driver with a beater car, but give them a sports car, and they immediately try to show off, which can cause anything from accidents to getting the car vandalized.

Wonder why this thread is still alive, but anyways I got my G when I was 19. Got it from the money I saved up from work. Parents got me a beater when I was 17 or so. Extremely glad that they did. Those highschool kids get jealous really easily and i've seen some pretty bad stuff go down in my highschool's parking lot lolz..
Never gotten a ticket. Always been a cautious driver. No major accidents. Had some minor incidents, but nothing big though. It totally depends on who you are.
The G gets girls though definitely. They love it haha. Just keep gotta keep it clean (:

I got my G35 coupe when I was 17. Over 2 years later and no wrecks and just 1 ticket . I'd like to say i'm a good driver, but i've had a lot of close calls and dumb decisions haha. If you think he is responsible enough to drive it then go ahead and buy it, although insurance and gas are definitely not cheap!

Psssh...compared to what??? I had an old Jeep Wrangler before my G and paid almost twice as much on insurance and got about 6mpg less in gas! Is a G more economical than a Civic? No. But there are a TON of cars out there that have higher insurance, less safety features, and worse gas mileage than a G35. No offense to anyone here, but a G is a looooong was from a fancy car, a fast car, or an expensive car.

Im picking up my 06 G today, put a deposit on it on the 13th. Im 21 years old and my parents have helped me insurance wise which I really appreciate but they never bought a car for me, they said to me "you have to pay for your own car and own gas so you can appreciate your vehicle". THEY WERE SOOO RIGHT! I have been working since 15 and when I was a senior in high school I wanted the G sooo badly but knew I couldnt afford it, I bought a 2003 Nissan Maxima and kept it for 4 years until I was ready to buy the G, I held out on trading it in and sold it on craigslist and got just the right amount of money I needed (which was a steal for me lol) and combined it with the money I had saved up and BAM. I am stoked to have such a beautiful car like this, and I thank my parents for the opportunity just to have this car. Remember, this car is a PRIVILEGE! By the way this is my first post I think, so HELLO to everyone lol
