Rear rotors all rusted
#16
the part of the rotor that is rusted is the hat. My whole rear rotors are rusted. I will take pictures. But I dont understand what some of you are saying that after you wash your car the rotors get rusted and then after you drive the rust comes off? I dont understand that. My whole rear rotors are rusted, and no matter how much I drive, they are always rusted.

This whole thread is just ridiculous. If you want help you need to be specific and actually describe IN DETAIL what the hell you want to know. The same goes for people trying to help...
Ok, you see the black part there? That is the Hat. If it's not black or Zinc coated (and most are NOT) then it will ALWAYS rust. Why you ask? Because nothing touches it to rub the rust off. You see the silver area where the red caliper touches? If that area rusts, the rust wil come off after a quick drive around the block. Why you ask? Because the friction from the break pads rubs off the rust. If you have driled and slotted rotors then the inside of the drill holes and slots are likely going to rust as well, because the pads don't make contact with those areas and so rust can sit inside these crevices.
The folks telling you to paint your rotors are telling you to paint the rusted Hat on yours so that it looks black like in the picture. End. Of. Story.
And although I still have a hard time believeing folks don't know how to post pictures online... Go to this site...
