What a G!! Shows off just how good looking and well proportioned the G is. Most new cars are just conglomerates of angles and add ons to make them look "neat", but nowhere near the inherent beauty and staying power of the G! I screenshotted your G to add to my photo collections of super clean 35s.
Did my plugs, pulled number 6 and found it coated in oil along with the boot of the coil pak. Looks like next weekend I'll get to do a valve cover gasket. I found out this summer I need to do the fan motor also, so I'll probably be under the hood all day on Saturday.
I'll probably take the time to clean everything up while I'm in there.
You need to replace the valve cover and gasket if you find oil in any of your plugs. Didn't do anything to car this weekend, but just been prepping for this hurricane. Had this plywood tucked away in the garage for our last major hurricane maybe 10 yrs ago. Boarded up the house, but we are staying put.
You can replace the individual spark plug tube seals in the valve cover, it just requires the use of the 1_7/8" hole saw and a drill press to drill out the 3/16" of plastic holding them in place inside the valve cover. You can google search how to do it if there's any questions and it's only about $20 for the grommets instead of a couple hundred for new valve covers. Just swapping valve cover gaskets won't fix the issue of oil in the spark plug wells.
^^ how reliable is this method? I have had a leaking valve cover for probably over 20k miles but not to the point where I need to add any oil between changes. Never checked the spark plugs because she runs like a dream, but I'm expecting to find some oil in at least one plug. Saving it for a winter project
It's as reliable as a new valve cover, you're replacing old, rock hard rubber pieces with brand new pliable ones. Newer Nissan engines still use this same design for the spark plug well grommets but no longer have the "permanent" retention of the grommet. Just secure the piece in a vice holder (or use two people to hold it down) so the holesaw doesn't walk around and tear up an unneccesary amount of plastic, you only drill down about 3/16". Thoroughly clean the area and apply a tiny bit of rtv inside the valve cover to keep the grommet from accidently falling out while reinstalling the valve cover.
Cover up the baffles so you don't get any little chips of plastic into them.
I've heard of folks also just using a screwdriver and hammer to chip that ridge of plastic off (or using channel lock pliars and just breaking it off) but the holesaw method leaves a nice clean circle, file with a half-round file to clean up the edge a little and it looks great.
New oem dark grey painted side mirrors to match grill and emblems AND new rubber mirror trim! You can still get the oem trim for the drivers side, but the passengers side is discontinued and unavailable--unavailable to the average enthusiast...I found two on an obscure parts site and grabbed one asap! There may only be one more left in the world. LOL, I should buy that one too!
I think the gray contrast mirrors are going to look awesome. I was going to install th6em tonight along with the new door stops, however, it started to drizzle and I didn't want to put the ISF out in the rain, so I did the floor mat protector and starting drinking beers

It's not the valve cover gasket, u gotta replace the whole valve cover..
