My 1990 300ZX had glass headlights. 22 years old and not a problem. They looked great, I would take glass headlights any day.

My headlights used to fog up within a month to a month and a half of me cleaning them. I haven't had any issues since I cleaned them this time around, though.

Wait.. what did you use haha?

Hahaha.. windshields have a plastic layer in the middle. For all of the same reasons that headlights are made of plastic. And windshields DO distort light, thats why if you're in a car with a large curve in the windshield and you look at it from a distance you can see the wobbles/distortions. Not to mention they pit, so whether its plastic or glass it needs to be fixed/replaced eventually.

You'll see.

It's surprising, actually. The product isn't even designed for automotive use...

He's probably talking about UV Sealer-Helmsman Spar Urethane(Indoor/Outdoor)Clear Gloss mixed with Mineral Spirits described in here.

This information needs to be on a sticky results look far better than restoration kits and apparently lasts longer....Gary

Windshields do NOT have plastic in them for the same reasons the headlights are now made of plastic. Windshields are laminated so they won't cut the crap out of the passengers in a wreck. Headlights are plastic because they are lighter and cheaper, period.

Exactly.

Works wonders.

My headlights looked absolutely like new after I did it. Still do. I couldn't find the link to the writeup on my350, so that's why I was just going to do another one...

The ONLY flaw I've found with this is that the Helmsman urethane is NOT completely bug gut resistant. If you hit a lot of bugs, make sure you wipe the guts off, or they'll eat through the urethane and leave nice little marks.

Gary: I can promise that this restoration process works. I was kind of jaded at first, but I gave it a shot anyway. Needless to say, the end result really did speak for itself.

That explains why my windshield is crap.
