Clearly they are aiming "global" not US.

So they are going to be putting Mercedes 4-cylinder engines in the new G35 (Q50/Q60)?

Apparently this is a step backwards in reliability

Usually when a company does such a drastic name change is because the product changes.

Example. Project Mu brake pads are now being named different models, because they are now being shipped overseas to be assembled. Same with Tein, new name line up because supposedly they are not 100% JDM anymore .

So with that being said, Mercedes motors going into Infiniti chassis = Q naming

This whole name change thing going to Q is a joke even at my Infiniti dealership. They're shaking their heads wondering why Nissan would be so stupid....Gary

For all future buyers, this would be a great time to stock up on the emblems and sell them for more money.

Agreed. MB flat out can't build to the reliability standards of Nissan but the two companies are in a pretty large joint venture. And I also agree the MB 4 cyl turbo is probably coming as a base Q50 model - it's already in the MB C250. That's probably a big reason for the switch to the new naming system - as engines will be getting smaller for gas mileage quotas Infiniti needs a naming system that does not correlate to engine size. No one will want the new G25.

I don't think what Infiniti is doing is dumb looking at it from a global scale as opposed to the U.S; it's very Audi like and they are going quite well. My only disappointment is the Q50 is supposedly going to be bigger and more expensive than the G37. Was hoping they might go leaner and meaner. But I guess we will all find out in two weeks.

if they want to compete with BMW Audi and Mercedes, they have to decrease their reliability, makes sense
