Your G and your future!
Keep it. Personally the G has the better lines and styling -exterior wise. Exterior.exterior. I dunno, to me I feel like all BMWs look wayyyyy too much alike. I can't justify spending money on an M3 when it has so many similarities to a 328 or 335i. Plus they stopped makin Gs so who knows maybe it'll be a collectors item lol...then again they stopped making del sols too..
It was released I think 2 days ago. They dropped the M3 for the M4, and the last one was orange incase you wanted to know. I am pissed they dropped it, but o well. BMW said they wanted to create a gap between the 3 series and the M3.......

Say homie what's up??
Keep the G I say if you can financially. Even though it's just a hunk of metal to some, since it holds a special place in your heart it will always be the "first" if you know what I mean. My first real car was a '72 Cutlass 442 and there's not a day that goes by that I don't wish I still had her. Never in the time I owned it was everything working perfectly but I didn't care. That car was the shizz and I still miss it.
To answer the question of where do I see my car in the future, I said when I bought it that I would drive it until she hit 200K miles or until she died on me and I still plan to. Currently at 116K and she runs and looks new so I have no reason to dump her. I could afford a lot of different cars now, but have formed a special bond with my G and have no desire to have another DD even after 4 years.
Don't be a stranger on here OK?

Yeah I don't want to end up wanting my car back down the road if I sell it. Plus I'd still be attached to it even if I sold it since there is a lot of sentimental value in this car. I guess my decision is more based on a logistical/space thing. I'm planning on moving out of the state within the next year but I want my Bimmer sooner, so I'd have to figure out how to get two cars to my new place. Plus I don't have room to have two cars around unless I rent some storage unit to put the G in but.. That feels to me like putting it in the trash can. I dunno, I'll most likely figure something out and keep it.
The announcement of the new M4 changes some timing things though... It's poked my interest. And yes, I've done a lot of research into my next car (as I did with my G, which has its own problems but I accepted them and have coped) and the BMW is what I've chosen. I would regret not getting it if I went with something else; my friend here has one and it's beautiful and legendary to drive.
I finally got my roof rack on though!

Tim, what part of Texas do you live in? I might be visiting Texas in the near future (still looking for where I want to live) so maybe we can meet up and knock a few back

I'm pretty much in the same mindset as you OP.
If everything goes as planned I want to keep my 06' coupe (which I frikin love) and add an E92 M3.
Since I'm looking for a house right now too my G will be my DD for the next couple years and maybe I can find a lightly used 2013 M3 by then.
I've been doing a lot of research on BMW forums and it looks like the naturally aspirated E92 V8 is one of the most reliable engines BMW has. The FI engines tend to have the most issues.
I have always been in love with the E92s, even more so than the previous E46 model.
It's the perfect combo of performance and comfort, but modding them is crazy EXPENSIVE.
The main issue that a lot complain about is the gas mileage. So be prepared to have a sizable gas budget after purchase.

Tim! How do you do my friend?

What's up homie, just saw this post. Glad to hear you're pondering keeping the G, but the Bimmer's are nice if you have a warranty on them lolol. The roof rack looks surprisingly good on the G, great job!
I live in Spring which is just north of Houston. I;m the GM of an upscale Italian restaurant in The Woodlands which is just north of me so if you get this way any time let me know you're coming and we'll get together. My phone number's the same as always, if you don't have it I'll PM it to you, just let me know.
The problem with keeping the G35 on the side is that you then have two 2-door RWD sport cars. Sometimes I wish I bought the 4-door so that I could hold onto it and get a tiny 2 door weekend car in the future.
