did the price of used first gen g35 coupes go up?
That's been going on for a while. The G35 has become the next civic since they are so cheap (relatively speaking) now. I can't blame a kid for wanting a 300HP RWD car over a 140HP FWD car. I'm not sure i really trust NADA or KBB. RIght now they are listing my 152K mile sedan at $8K clean trade-in, with $10,700 clean retail. No way would I get that if i were to sell or try to trade it in. I try and look at autotrader and ebay completed sales to get a sense of market values as anyone can ask $15K doesn't mean they will get it. I was seeing sedans with similar miles and condition selling on Ebay for $5000-6500 ish. Prob a little low if one factors in travel to get the car. When i almost traded the car in at 117K miles, the dealer offered me $8500. I would venture to guess now i'd be offered $6500 or so. End of the year i might finally trade it in and get a G37x . I know i've been saying that for years now though but what's been holding me off is selling my place and buying a new house and applying for a mortgage debt free vs having a car note on the application.
i still think there amazing car's... i went to go park my dads 2000 altima and it felt like i was inside a dumpster. then i jumped in the g and felt like i was inside a ferrari.
if i only had 10 grand to buy another car id get another one for sure.

And my wife wonders why every time she asks me to run an errand I back her car out of the drive way so I can take my car instead. She doesn't seem to get it. She drives a 12 Civic sedan.
At some point, the market will bottom out. These cars are still pretty popular so you will see a point where the instant a G35 falls below $X dollars, someone will buy it, no matter what.
Only time will tell when that point is but it usually takes a few years to start seeing the uptick in selling price simply due to inflation and the dropping purchasing power of the dollar.

Wow, makes me glad I picked up my 06 sedan for the price that I did! I noticed something similar but thought it was just due to location (Phoenix). I was finding high mileage and/or salvage titles for 8-12k all day long.
if this is true, I'll NEVER lose money on this car, as long as some tourist jack hole doesn't ball it up that is.
Good thing, since it is fully tuned up now and running great, I plan on keeping it awhile.

These cars that are coupes will be hard to get ahold of as time comes... Just like S14s or a super clean S13... If you have a super clean G35 coupe and can afford too keep it that way your investment shall shine I believe.. All these younger folks will be crashing and ruining them for somtime... Just hold on to your G if you love it and don't abuse the hell out of it and I believe it could be a wise investment for some of us....!
