I wouldn't turbo or TT without building it first.
The VQ is great, but I've been reading a lot about it myself - and building it would also get rid of some of the other problems the car experiences.
For the price? If you can do a lot of the work yourself, swap it.
There's tons of pre-turbo swaps that can hold higher HP on factory internals.
I'd wait for the VR30 twin turbo block if I were you. Plus that'll give you 5-10 years to save before it becomes cheap enough to be a viable swap.
It's like 400hp at 1500 RPM (350ft lbs of torque at 1500 rpm too?), I'm sure it can easily be modified up from that. I have a hunch that this will put Nissan/Infiniti ahead in the 3.0L turbo race.
DEFINITELY better than the 335i. Which has had the same horsepower for over 10 years. If anything BMW should have been in the lead on this.
These are exciting times for the v6 world.

Don't disagree with that logic. Just throwing it out there as an option.
I'd also imagine it could potentially be a cheaper option as well, depending on which particular LSx is sourced.

Even in the IS300 forums, people are comparing the LSx swap to a 2jzgte swap. I don't see how the swap procedure would be comparable? You'd need entirely new engine mounts, the wiring is going to be completely different, you're mating an American engine with a foreign car.
Transmission.
Driveshaft
I'm all for it if it's cheaper/easier.
I can't weld but my brother has a roof/fence welding company - I'm sure he could help me figure it out. All my swaps have been direct swaps. Never had to weld in motor mounts.
