You're probably comparing the economy he was getting with the VQ37VHR in his last car which has much more potential for economy than the VQ35DE/HR.

Just got 20.4 MPG on my last tank of 87, which I usually run on my daily commute. I did notice a difference in performance at WOT though so if I'm planning to do some spirited driving I'll usually fill up with 93. Right now I'm burning through a tank of 93 with the intent of calculating MPG on the same commute.... I'm hoping the MPG increase offsets the increase cost but I doubt it as Telcoman has proven with his car.
