Hey everyone, it’s been a while since I’ve posted, because I’ve gotten pretty busy with jobs either at work or around the house. One of them being me working on the G’s body to get it painted! It’s all looking brand new now, and it’s hard to not look at for a while. Remember, I had to get it re painted soon because of horrible clear-coat issues and a handful of dents and dings. It was just a mess. I took a ton of pictures but I’ll only upload the best picture of the handful of days of progress.
After spending 3 hours taking the car apart myself for the first time including the head and tail lights, side markers, grille, front bumper, and inner fenders up front, we started out by wet sanding. The car wasn’t horrible in most spots, and all it needed was a wet sand to get the clear off. We used body filler in spots that had dents and dings, then we’d use a regular sander on that. We spent a few days doing that and even found a dent or ding right as we were about to move on to the next step.
We then moved on to wet sanding the entire car down again to get everything as smooth as possible. Once that was done, we were already ready for primer! We didn’t dust the whole car in primer because again, some spots were fine to begin with, but either way needed re-painted.
What we then did after priming it the first time was blocking it down. This would uncover any other errors in the process to be fixed, for the best final product. All of that was done, and then we were ready for the second, and luckily last, coat of primer.
When that was applied, we wet sanded it to get it very smooth, so when we headed straight to paint it wouldn’t look or feel hideous.
We spent a long time masking, and then once everything was ready, we applied a few base coats of a red off of another car. Then, the last few were the legit AX6 Redline, that’s what it was before and after. It looked amazing. But once clear-coat was applied to top it off, I thought I was looking at a brand new car. It’s amazing how the car turned out, compared to how gross it looked before.
*Now, remember how I spray painted my wheels white to see how they’d look? I went ahead and took them in before the car was finished to get the same process as a body of a car would get. Sanded, primed, sanded again, primed again, wet sanded, painted white, then clear-coated. They look like a stock white now!
Pictures of them will be seen on the car here in just a moment.
Anyway, once the car was all dry, we wet sanded and buffed the entire car to get all the little spots and what not taken out that happened during the process of drying. This really tops off the job to make the paint look like glass. Once it was all done, it was ready to go! It took a little over two weeks of working on it for about 6 hours everyday. Quite a process, but hopefully won’t be lied to about how the clearcoat on a car is next time, like the people I got it from did. We had no choice but to base condition off the pictures and get it shipped here because we bought it on an auction, and mechanically is still perfect. Whatever, it’s in my hands now and has brand new paint!
Before After
So yeah! That’s the process it takes, it can be painful and test your patience, but has a great outcome.
Thank you for viewing!

(Possible Question) “What are your future plans?” I basically plan to mess with suspension, including spacing out the wheels to make it more flush, and then dropping it 1-1.5”. Then, I want to find nicer exhaust tips, preferably titanium. I have two in my cart, but shipping is ridiculously high, so I can wait to decide but they’re there. Then, I want to either get headlights from an 06-07 because everything is clear with the projector HID, or I’ll just find aftermarket ones. Other than that, I honestly don’t have any major plans.
My next upgrade is a G37S Coupe but it’ll be a while from now!
