I replaced my alternator before the engine light came on and I disconnected the battery prior as a precaution

 

I seem to be coming across an issue each time I perform the self diagnostics feature on my G35. Each time I have performed it the check engine like blinks slowly 4 times then remains illuminated on the 5th and will not repeat itself I have also tried to reset the ECU through the self diagnosing system with out any success. I have followed the timing parameters to a T so I don't believe that's the issue. Has anyone else run into this issue?

 

Exactly which self-diagnostic are you doing, there's like... six of them?

Instrument cluster, air conditioner, SRS, etc. Each has it's own self-diagnostic.
