Black Stock 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe
Question Parasitic draw

Hey Guys, Working on my 2006 INFINITI G35 Coupe and since I bought it, it keeps killing the battery within a few days of sitting. driving it regularly is okay but once she sits for a bit, you get hard cranking and dimming lights. the battery is 2 years old and I have no mods done to the car. have tested the battery at full charge and reads good but when I pulled the neg (-) terminal off and used my multimeter to test for draw it comes up as 0.06 DcA. I've pulled all known fuses while looking for a sign of where it could be but the multimeter just wasn't dropping. I know my seat memory switches aren't working right now but I was also getting the drain before that stopped working so there's a slight possibility its that module but I also know the stereo amp can go out and cause a draw on early models of the G but I don't know if that was fixed for the 06. If anyone has some guidance to offer, I'd be more than happy to listen and give some stuff a try.

Everybody always points at the battery first saying bad battery, and it usually isn’t, but I would load test it to make sure. You said it “reads good”, how are you testing it? Just voltage? That won’t tell you much. Bring it somewhere that can load test it and remove the possibility that it’s the battery.

IIRC, .05 amps is “normal” draw, I can’t imagine that your .06 is killing your battery after sitting for a bit. That’s why in this instance I think it may be your battery. That load is just not enough to draw the battery down after a few days. This is assuming that your meter is reading correctly.

I would say the battery is going on vacation. I had similar issue in my 07 where it sat for 6 days and then click, click and click. Turned out the 1.5 year old battery from Advance Auto crapped out. It had 12.5 base voltage but no guts. After replacing with new Gold from AutoZone, it can sit for 3 weeks without any issues, BUT, i did notice if the car is unlocked, the battery will drain faster. Should be the other way around when locked but same situation was with a Jaguar XF where unlocked, the battery drained within 2 weeks and when locked, it was over 5 weeks.

Also, make sure nothing is left plugged in to the USB ports or cigarette lighter.
