Just curious, has anyone tried drifting in their G35? If so, how successful was it? What speed were u going into the turns?

Re: Drifting

Turn off VDC, punch it in a turn and tell us what happens!

Re: Drifting

Asking if you can drift is like asking if you can do burnouts. Just turn off the VDC and let the good times roll. After wearing in the tires a little, burn outs are fun as hell and you don't get the wheel hop.

Re: Drifting

The handling limit on the G is understeer, so yes, drifting is very possible.

Re: Drifting

Hey! the arcade game is fun. Although...those dollar bills are going away quite fast. Wish they had the G in the game...oh well. I use the S2000 for my "Initial D" car. hahah

Re: Drifting

just a warning. Keep the VDC on in the rain. Do not pass cars on the freeway onramp in the rain with your VDC off. just a warning.

And yes you can easilly drift on dry roads as well. You just gotta know the car.

Re: Drifting

Another thing, as far as steering corrections while drifting: DO NOT TURN THE WHEEL TOO FAR. I have scared myself a couple times by over correcting while drifting at 40 or 50 mph around turns.

This car has precise steering and rewards those who deftly use the steering wheel. Backing off the gas slightly as you finish your drift will help bring the back in quickly.

I am still learning the car's behaviors when the wheels are sliding so I don't know much more than what I said above.

As far as VDC in the rain goes: tires make all the difference. Go fork over the cash for some 235/50/17 Michelin All Seasons and you will have much better dry and wet handling and will not be near as scary during the rain. Plus they work in a a couple of inches of snow as well

Re: Drifting

i agree with the steering part
but the way i learned was not to let off the gas at all.

Re: Drifting

You don't need to understeer to drift. You want to have the bkac swing out in a turn, than turn the front weels in the direction you want to go. The back will skid and the front wheels will just roll, with enough force, it will turn into a nice long drift. I've done it before.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: Drifting

drifting is not simply making your tires screech around a corner. It is an art form. it is knowing your car so well to know when to step gas, when to correct, etc. it is coming inches from the inside curb. it is hard. and i cant do it. =(

Re: Drifting

malx,

Do you understand what drifting is?

From your response, I don't think so...

Drifting is HUGE in Japan. Do a web search on drifting. There are videos that show 10 or 15 cars drifting all over the road, one after another.
