Those w/MT: Breaking your tires loose after 1-2 shift

Hey guys, I have had my G for about 3 weeks now and have never really beat on her yet...until last night. A new mitsubishi eclipse, which sounded modded, pulled next to me at a light and the passenger started talking ****. I didn't have enough time to hit the vsc button but launched good enough. I shifted so hard and fast from 1-2 that the rear wheels broke loose for a second, and then the traction kicked in and shut the car down for like another 2-3 seconds before letting me accelerate 100% again. Even though I lost time w/ that, I still won though. Anyways, my question is if the stability control was off, and I broke the wheels loose, would it be severe enough to spin the car out, or just give it a slight peel? I tried sifting the car fast again, and can reproduce it every time but am scared to turn the traction off now.
Anybody have any stories?

Our cars dont have enough power to fishtail real bad from 1st to 2nd, unless its raining.

I'm only about 10 days deep with my 6mt sedan.

I chirped 3rd the other day and had traction kick in; this was on dry pavement.

Previously, I drove two fwd cars; the power the G has, makes it feel like you might get more than a chirp in second.

Correct me if im wrong, but when you chirp in 2nd, doesnt that mean either youre shifting too slow( youre letting the rpms drop too much)

03-04 G35's should be able to chirp 2nd and even 3rd gear. jclit, it is the opposite, when you shift very quickly, the revs are higher than the tranny and therefore overdrive the wheels, breaking them loose.

I think 05+ should still be able to chirp both gears too.

Ive chirped between 1st and 2nd more times than I can count. Just turn off the VDC so it doesnt kick in.

I think the only time your gonna lose control is in wet weather or if you have FI. I've chirped 2nd and 3rd with VDC OFF and tires that are worn down without incident. Having said that make sure you feel comfortable (know her limits) with the car before doing anything crazy.

If you shift quick enough from 1st to second you can break them loose for sure. I have even let the rpms go all the way to 7k and shifted normal and have gotten a little chirp. Third gear is also possible. Dont be scared to take the VDC off, as a matter of fact I dont even drive my car with the VDC on!!!

Please....drive safe everyone.

We have a post here EVERYWEEK about someone who put his g35 in a curb/rail because VDC was off....

public road = VDC on

Track= VDC off if you want

Question to you experts.. is it bad when shifting from 1-2 you "guide" the RPMS to stay in the 5-6K range. I Know I accel faster like that but am I doing something bad to the car when doing this?

If I undestand correctly, you are doing a "power shift", upshifting without realeasing the gaz pedal.

Yes it's dangerous for the transmission, it's hard on syncro.

A transmisison wiz will propably explain in more detail.

What is the meaning behind this? I was under the impression that 05's and 06's had more horse power than the 03-04 G35s. I'm honestly curious why an 03 would have a supposedly better chance to chirp 2nd to 3rd than an 05!??!

WOT shifting is definately hard on a tranny, I learned the hard way with my previous car, SRT-4 though it did have 490wtq so it was a different case but I literraly broke a Clutchmasters Stage 4 to pieces and a input shaft due to "power shifting" I dont recomend it to be done its just not worth it in the long run
