I was on the I-280 today heading to the mall to get my friend a birthday present when this van infront of me changed lanes and kicked up a @#$#@ rock. The rock put 3 deep scratches on my hood and chipped my windshield. Should I call the insurance up? I'm really pissed right now If it wasnt' for my girlfriend I'd be going on a rampage right now.

 

what is she doing for you to keep you from a a rampage! LOL
How deep is the scratches? maybe some wet sanding would work! And the Windshield Depend on where it chipped! Main thing is depend on what is you co pay on it!

Bad luck cloud. Find out how much to fix the damage to the hood. It may not be worthwhile to make a claim.
A windshield claim shouldn't affect your rates.

similar thing happened to me except it was a metal object luckily only leaving one scratch and a windshield scratch to match, but i found this while i was wondering what to do, havent done it yet though.

call 1800 800 2727 satellite auto glass they should be able to repair your glass cheap, i just dont know if they are close to you...hope it helps
i've used them before and they did a really good job on my ex bmw

 

Sorry to hear that,
same thing happened to me except it didn't damage the windshield,
but ripped a huge piece of clear bra off.
luckily the hood wasn't damage, all I needed was to replace the bra.
