1st Gear Clutch Problems 2005 G35 Coupe

I have a 2005 G35 6MT Coupe and I am having some difficulty in getting into 1st gear without having engine shakes. I get the rare smooth transfer but I am not really getting a smooth transfer into 1st at all. Can somebody review the rpm's for shifting into 1st gear or technique for smooth shifting into 1st gear.

D

Do you mean the rpms for down shifting into first gear or are you having problems simply putting the car into first from a stop?

Getting into the first gear on a downshift requires a double clutch to the proper RPM that the engine would be at. Otherwise you will be met with resistance until the syncros are able to make up the different in road speed.

No Down-Shift Points are given, but the Up-Shift from "1st to 2nd is 8mph normal acceleration, 15mph quick acceleration". Maximum speed in 1st is 35mph.

I notice anything more than 10mph is going to make it hard to get into 1st, without blipping the throttle. I'll either come to a complete stop and select 1st or maintain a slight roll and use 2nd, if the conditions allow/call for it.

what about 1st gear

what about 1st gear...what should the rpm's be at when first shifting into 1st gear. from a stand still.....flat surface.................this is to help in avoiding any shaking.....

What do you mean? There is no certain RPM's to get into 1st gear. Just try to not rev over 2K. From a stand still, push the clutch in, put it in 1st, slowly ease out the clutch while slowly giving it gas. Do you know how to drive a manual?

I do know how to drive manual...this is why i said i was getting a little to simplistic for everyone. I am getting a shake when engagin into 1st gear. I am letting out the clutch slowly and I am attempting not to exceed 2k rpm but i am getting a shake ...........

smooth shifting?

so is smooth shifting into 1st gear from a stand still possible? If yes what is the technique most commonly used? That is to say is it alright to engage with a "thump" or a lot of torquue and just say smooth shifting is not really possible constantly?

just feather the clutch more. sounds like you're letting up the clutch too fast and the engine is bogging down.

It must be your car then man, get it checked out at the stealership. If you are equally applying gas while letting out the clutch, the car should smoothly take off (like mine) without the rev's going above 2K before the clutch is fully out. If you do not apply enough gas, the car will bog down and sputter and if the rpm's dip below 600 the car should stall.

When i take off first my rpms dont go higher then 1300 rpms. My cluth seems to slip when the car is cold, but after that it does pretty good.

I was riding with a friend that was supposedly a good driver, and wow he pretty much revs to 2k, before the car starts moving...

are you getting really bad clutch chatter?
when it's cold mine is sort of notchy going into first while standing still. But that goes away once it warms up. but i'm talking like winter cold not now.

Mine does this too. The way to get it into first without shaking is give it a bit of gas let the clutch out as soon as you start rolling a bit let off the gas let out the clutch and then hit the gas again.
