Re: Tiptronic
I was happy with my Sedan (A/T) and even happier with my new Coupe A/T. Not interested in the least in M/6- had enough of 'clutching'. As far as price : the 6M/T here in Canada was $1k more MSRP.(brembos and aero included)
Speed and quickness wise: If you're good and don't blow any shifts, then the 6M/T is about 3-5 tenths quicker depending on who's testing.Substantial to some, not me.
The thing I like most about the A/T is that if you want to 'participate' and use the manual shift mode, it's there. If not Auto mode, please. That to me is worth a little performance. After all, whether you go 5.75 seconds or 6.25 seconds or somewhere in between there's not a pinch of 'sh*t'
difference in it. They're both fast. To each his own tho. There was a time I liked 'clutching' (a few years ago, honest........)

Manual is fun - unless you commute to work in a lot of stop-and-go traffic. Then you wish you had an automatic. I learned this the hard way after I moved to Atlantaand bought a 95 Turbo Talon w/5sp.
Kick out the morning/evening drive and the MT was great.

Try your luck at getting a test drive on both. I wasn't successful, but that was in November, so . . .
I always swore I would never get one and always mocked people with Tiptronic Porsches, etc. This is my first auto, b/c I was not patient enough to wait for the delivery time on the manual, but I really enjoy it.
Worst case, go to the dealership and test drive a sedan with the sport package (if you haven't yet) and that will be really close to how the coupe's auto drives, just a little less potent.

Re: Tiptronic
There's a little variance in the 2 Autos. The Sedan's box when using Manumatic requires less input: When it's left in say 4M it stays there. When the Coupe's box is put on 4M it doesn't stay there: As the car decellerates and gears down, so does the indicated gear which follows the downshifting of the box.(from 4M>3M>2M>1M). Once you speed up again, you have to change back up to 4M. This mode in the Coupe requires more input.

Hey man you get what 'turns your crank', LOL . The standard is very popular and a ton of fun. My Coupe's my main ride so has to A/T. ...........Enjoy............
