The Cayman S can be had for under $55k. That's the cost of a fully loaded M45. Which is around the cost of the 335 and M3. The C6 is some where around there too...the Z06 on the other hand is somewhere over $70k.

I hope Infiniti makes sure the new coupe is as fast or faster than the 335i. The numbers on the 335i are sick.

The price you quote is near the invoice price of a CS without any options. Most Cayman Ss will sticker in the upper $60S moderately equipped, and I've seen several pushing into the $70s.

Discounts abound on C6s. Go to Kerbecks web site and you will lots of well equipped '07 C6 coupes that you can buy for around $50K with discounts. I haven't seen the prices for a 335, but I expect that you'll be able to buy them for the upper $40s, low $50s.

One thing everyone has to remember is that the 335 is going to be a hell of a lot more expensive than a G35 Coupe. I dont remember the exact pricing of the BMW, but I'm sure an average equipped 335i will run mid to high $40s. I'm sure low $50s is not out of the question.

Whereas our coupes start at low $30s. You get what you pay for.

But the fact that the new G35 Sedan is running 0-60 in the low 5s, I have no doubt the 08 coupes will run 5 flat or better, but still be a whole lot cheaper than a similarly equipped 335i, without the turbo lag or high price of repair on those turbos.

Money for money, our coupes compete with the 325, which is a performance joke.

Actually turbo lag is a thing of the past. Almost all cars with turbo technology now offer twin smaller turbos rather than one large turbo. The twin turbos will spoil up quickly without any noticeable lag.

That may be true, but even the old twin turbos in the 3000GTs and Supras still had some lag. Either way, turbos are a pain in the *** when you have to sit in the parking lot waiting for your turbos to cool before you shut off your engine. And they are expensive as hell to fix if there is a problem. I should know, my VR-4 was notorious for turbo issues.

is the twin turbo sequential??

if it is the lag will hardly be noticable especially with the 3.5 L engine.

Don’t get me wrong, because I may end up in the new coupe,….BUT
Where are you going to get a coupe out the door for low $30s

Cheaper, yes but not as wide a gap as you think,
when you consider everything including residual value & included maintenance.

335i starts at $40,600. MSRP (-2% can be had)
add premium & sport & metallic paint = just over $44K

Turbo lag is non existent, full torque comes in at 1300 and is flat as a table top.
Problematic turbos are old news.

I've looked at the 335i & it's one fine piece of work.

That means by 2020 it'll have 540hp!!!

No.
Two small turbos that split the load that spin up really quick.
Lag is imperceptable
