Re: mobil 1 oil filter
as long as it fits. The length doesn't matter as long as you're increasing the size not decreasing.

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
I called Mobil 1 and asked them what the part number was for an 2003 G35 Coupe with the 3.5L engine. The service guy typed in my info and got back M1-108. I bought both the M1-108 and the M1-110. When I took the stock filter off (first oil change), the M1-108 is alot smaller in length then the stock one, so I used the M1-110.
The previous post is right though, as long as it fits, the increased length will not matter.

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
I use the Mobile 110 b/c it's bigger which means more oil flow and capacity on the filter.

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
Hey,
Where are you guys buying these Mobile 1 oil filters? I have gone to both Pep Boyz and Kragen and neither of these stores have them (here in Cali).... Also, are these filters specially made to handle synthetic oil, or doesn't it matter?
Currently, I have the Fram oil filter too. Please advise.
Thanks, Jaime

Working with people in the filter industry, many consider Fram to be about the worst, or as someone likes to say, "you'd be better off putting toilet paper in a coffee can to filter your oil" ...
Of course everybody has opionions on brands, but until you cut open the filter with a saw to see material quality and design, you are just relying on these opinions.

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
Hey guys. do you guys know which car the 110 is for. Becuase the 110 is mobil specific and not brand specific. Therefore, if I knew which car the 110 was for, then i could buy a larger oil filter which would also fit our G35's but be by a different manufacturer. Thanks guys. I would hate to have my oil changed and end up with a smaller oil filter than I originally had.

You can get the Mobil 1's at Autozone. Back in the day, Walmart used to sell them. I haven't seen them there recently. FRAM??????!!!!!! Oh no. The worst filters ever! Purolator makes a Pure One filter that is the same size as the Mobil 1 M1-110. That is the filter I used for my first oil change. The Purolator part number is PL14620.
This is from another post(I didn't do the research on these):

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
That's from this thread:
My first oil change!
It also includes the standard filter numbers.
I think one of the late 90's Maxima's used the larger filter as the OEM filter.

Re: mobil 1 oil filter
It won't improve performance, but lack of one can seriously impact your 1/4 mile times... it's hard to keep accelerating after the engine seizes up and throws some of it's parts into the fender well.
Just on the off chance that you're not joking, here you go: The oil filter filters dirt and debris out of the oil, to prevent wear and tear on your engine internals. There are good filters and bad filters. Bad filters clog up early and go into bypass mode (where they still let the oil flow through, but without filtering it) and they don't clean out as many smaller debris particles as the better filters. It's not a performance improvement, it's an engine maintainence thing -- and a well-maintained engine won't degrade in performance after several years of operation.
