Re: Coupe speaker system
I think Zaid just left out the rear speakers for BOSE systems.
So the total is
2 Front Tweeters - \ these will require a crossover
2 Front Door 6 1/2" / if you go aftermarket...
2 Rear Side Panel 6 1/2"
a.not confirmed but thats how I read it
b. Anyone know if the rear are 2 way?
2 Rear Deck 6x9s
G35 Coupe / Premium / Nav
Ivory Pearl / Willow Leather
SSR GT3 19"s w/ Bridgestone SO-3

Re: Coupe speaker system
Ive got a non premium 6MT coupe. If no one knows already, the difference is the speakers, the head unit is the same. The front are a component system. 6 1/2 and a tweeter up top. The rear are in the arm rest. They look like 4x6 speakers. The guy at CarToys thinks so as well, as we were discussing an upgrade. He was glad to NOT see the bose system. The rear deck does not have any speakers, and does not look like there are cutouts there. I still don't think it would be difficult to put a couple of 6x9s there. My plan as of now is a simple upgrade: AMP, MB Quart up front and rear in original place. And possibly one of those Infiniti 12" self contained amp/subwoofers. It just one woofer (you dont need two, bass is nondirectional) in a small package with built in amp.

Re: Coupe speaker system
There are car speaker that have the 4x6" configuration. Although many cars don't use them anymore. I used to own a 1991 Chevy Camaro had 4x6 up front. The coupe however I believe uses a 6 1/2" speaker configuration, not 4x6".

Re: Coupe speaker system
I haven't seen the speakers or dimensions first-hand, but the 4x6 reference makes sense. I had a 2000 Maxima, and they had 4x6 speakers in the doors, which I replaced with Infinity Kappa 4x6 speakers I purchased from Crutchfield.com.
If you do decide to upgrade your system, it is definitely advisable to NOT go with the Bose upgrade. When I took my Maxima in, the first thing they asked was whether or not it was the Bose system. Apparently the Bose system is configured in such a way to persuade you not to do any aftermarket upgrades to it - which makes sense if you're the Bose folks.
