This doesn't apply to the initial question. My rev-up machine got to
146 in 5th and I had to hit 6th to get to 155.
Now I did face some head winds on that run so maybe that was a
factor?

But our tranny's are supposed to be close ratio boxes, so the faster in a lower gear thing doesnt really apply to the G's.

I never said this was the case with the G, I just said it could be and it IS with some other cars. I've read a few top speed tests on HIGH speed cars, 190mph+ where the testers got a higher speed in 5th than 6th.
