Adding OEM Navigation to a non-navi coupe

Has anyone done this? Say I bought an OEM navigation unit (something like this). Would it be difficult to swap into my dash? Also, can I get a different plastic "surrounding" for this one? My current interior has the aluminum looking silver look.

I've seen this before, several times, and it's ALWAYS heavily advised to go the aftermarket route. It's labor intensive and ends up costing more than if you hadd bought it installed from the dealer.

But if you strictly insist on going this route, I'd recommend DL'ing the PDF manual that lists our cars part by part so you can see what you'd be getting yourself into. And then, if you're still determined, print out that info and starty buying it up and installing.

However, Pionner and Eclipse make some solid DD headunits that would save you a LOT of money and effort with the same [or better] end result as far as features/functionality go.

I recently bought a Tom Tom One and velcroed it to the inside of the lid that covers where the nav is on the coupes without navi, works pretty damn good. I can remove it when i park overnight or just flip it down when i run into the store. Since its a lease I really cant mod it too much. I figure it will work till i can get a '08 G with a nav this time around.

Nav OEM or Aftermarket??

Here is alink to a oem NAV unit.

My recomendation to you is to get an aftermarket unit. Much better quality. I f I where u i would look at the Eclipse deck(AVN??) or I would get the pioneer. Much better functionality. The pioneer unit has the XM Traffic. Can't beat that. Live pdates of traffic in your area. and you can get it to be flush to where your deck was. all you need to do is order a new din. Get the one from japan and it will have all the air buttons and it will fit perfectly. Loooks great. The DVD's dont cost as much as the OEM's. and they are upgraded every year and still can run on your system. The OEM only upgrades to a certain point and then you have to replace everything to get the new CD's. Meaning my 05 nav cd's cant be upgradded anymore with out purchasing the 06 NAV System.
