Baby seat in the back seat????
Baby seat in the back seat????
I want to buy a G35 Coupe, but I am curious if anyone knows if a baby seat will fit in the back? My wife has a Tahoe but you never know when the need will arrise. Assume you move the passenger seat all the way up, will it work?

I'm in the same boat. New baby on the way. 350Z won't cut it and my Z32 definitely won't hold the kid. I took a baby carrier (for new infants.. larger than a baby seat) to the dealer last weekend and YES! it will fit in the coupe back seat with room to spare. I'm ecstatic!!
The only thing I couldn't check was if the trunk will hold a stroller or not. It does appear a little anemic, but I'm going to figure out how to make it work.
Planning to purchase in Nov for Feb delivery.

I don't have to worry abou tthat anymore as my youngest is six, but, there are anchors in the seats and behind the headrests for child seats. I'm assuming that most seats should fit in the buckets fine. Now getting that stroller in and out of the trunk is another thing!

Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
Whether or not the carseat fits in the back is not your problem. What you should be worried about is crawling to the rear to put the baby in and to get the baby out. You're going to strain your back, burn your knees, and bump your head. It's time to go to 4 doors.
I've had kids with coupes (or coupes with kids?), and now I have a sedan. Trust me, you'll make your life a whole lot easier by going with four. Doors, not kids.

Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
I just installed a Century convertible seat (forward facing) in the rear (it's an older non-LATCH so it's in there w/the belt). Fits no problem. I imagine most infant, convertible and boosters will fit fine.
Infiniti lists seats they've tested for fit:

Like you, we usually take the 'ute when the kid (3yrs) is involved, but she is occasionally in "my" car (coupe). Tell ya what -- it IS a backbreaker leaning into the rear seat to buckle -- I'd imagine even worse if you have to lift the child or swing the carrier. The coupe is the wrong car as a primary kid hauler, but IMO for the "sometimes" trips it's fine...esp if your kid(s) can climb in and out of the seats themselves so all you have to do is buckle.
I've found it more comfortable to let our daughter climb in/out herself, and I buckle/unbuckle her from the driver's seat. That twist/turn seems easier on the back than the lean'n'bend from outside the car.
FWIW.

Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
Don't let them sway you from what you want. I have the Coupe w/ a 2 year old and 7 year old. My wife drives a Suburban (family room on wheels) but I can get the car seat and the kids in the G35 no problem. And I am over six feet.
Wouldn't want to do it every day unless I was willing to leave a car seat in the car (wich I am not). The power forward seats make it alot easier to get them in and out, and the new car seat locks make using a car seat a breaze. Just because you have kids doesnt mean you have to drive a sedan...

Baby seat fits fine once you can turn it around to face the front. That's usually a year or when the baby weighs 20lbs.
I wouldn't even consider it before then. It will be a serious pan in the a$$. Trust me.

Thanks everyone for your input. I don't even have kids yet, but they are about 2 years out. I'll get the coupe and worry about the child seat later!!! I'll make sure we use my wife's car for carrying children. It sounds like it won't be too bad on occasion. I can't wait. Silver G here I come!!!
Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
I have to say that it is not a problem at all. The only problem that i could see is if you are over 6 feet tall and your wife is too. I pre-ordered a 350Z the first day that you could over a year ago, and swore that I would never give it up. 2 months later my wife found out that she was pregnant with our first child. The day after she was born I took my black Track model 350Z to the Infinity dealer along with a rear facing car seat, installed it, and test drove it. Everything works just fine. I would suggest that you take the car seat, go to the dealer, install the seat and drive the car. I have to say that my little one is lullaby to sleep by that exhaust node.

Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
Yeah, you should be fine with the car seat in the back. Also, the trunk is kind of tight, but can fit a stroller in there no problem (assuming it is one of those fold-down strollers). You can fit two golf bags in the trunk, and those are about the size of a fold-down stroller.
Re: Baby seat in the back seat????
I can see getting two carry bags back there but I had trouble getting my cart bag in.. I just said "screw it" and folded down the rear seat.

With this logic, why not go all the way and get a minivan?
Things that take a little more effort are usually worth it - get the coupe.

I bought my coupe with a 5 year old and one on the way. Now she's 6 and I have a 9 month old. We've had full size rear-facing, the rear facing infant carrier type, boosters, and full size forward facing seats in the G. We take it on all of our trips including a week long trip to Disney World.
