2. KEEP IN MIND THAT R.E. IS PUTTING IT INTO PRODUCTION NOW SO IT'S ABOUT A 4-6 WEEKS WAIT BEFORE THEY SHIP.

GOOD LUCK!! AND THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST

This is definitely a DIY the following was taken from a previous post...

"i'd say the hardest part of the install (if its on floorjacks on the side of the road) is to put the damn rubber boot back over it!!!! since it's above the driveshaft, man... that was a headache. Makes the shifting a little harder but the shorter throw is definatly worth it."

Hey I'm not sure about RE not making the shifter anymore. This must have been real recent because I just bought mine 2 weeks ago from RE themselves. I just ordered it on their website and they sent it to me in like 2 days haha. But it def is an amazing shifter and I couldn't see myself going back to stock now that I've been driving with it daily!

tried to do this about a week ago.. didn't go anywhere so i purchased it from a seller on My350z. Should be getting it tomorrow. Hopefully this GB goes well for those out there that are thinking about it but might miss out on the chance to own it "new" ever again.

I called RE this morning and that's what one of the owners told me over the phone.

i guess you're one of the lucky ones who picked up the last few laying around.

Wow I feel so lucky now! I would have cried if I couldn't have gotten the new short shifter! Well if thats the case and they really discontinued the shifter, then everyone GROUP BUY it SERIOUSLY! You may not think that you need this shifter even for daily driving, but trust me once you put it in you will never want to go back to stock! It is worth every penny I paid for it from RE and the install I did myself within 2 hours time, checking my steps along the way. I really would advise you 6MTs to take up G35DRUMMER's offer and get RE to make them again. They should have never stopped in the first place!

what benefits come from this short shifter? Better shifter feel? Easier 1st to 2nd transitions?

Everything is better man! The shifter has veryyy little to practically zero vibration in it, solid shifts thru each gate with a nice click! feel to it so you cant deny you are in gear, a very noticeable shorter throw than stock!, no slop when changing shift rods (going from 2-3, or 4-5). The shifter all around feels more solid and precise over the stock one. The only thing that you have to break in is the feel or the throw. The shifter needs to be broken in like how the your stock shifter felt compared to now. The throws may feel a bit stiffer than stock when you first put it in, but as long as you applied a generous amount of grease in the shifter cup and keep driving to work it in....it becomes butter smooth! Since i first drove with the RE shifter 2 weeks ago til now the shifter has really worked in nicely to my driving style. Now I can bang up and down gears, clutch or clutchless with easeeee! And performance wise its great because it really does shift a lot faster than stock. I had to relearn how to hard shift while racing with the new RE shifter. In the beginning I was shifting fast like it was stock and I immediately noticed the smell of clutch burning...which told me that I have to clutch/gas even faster to keep up with the car. But now with some practice I can pop thru the gears so quick when I'm WOT. The 1st to 2nd transition is still a bit sticky even with the new shifter. I don't think its the fault of RE but of Infiniti. A flaw with all our 6MTs. But just practice practice and you'll get the 1st to 2nd like butter man. I can drive my car like an automatic, cause I just learned the timing of each gear. But yea, in short, buy the RE shifter and you won't go back to stock. Its prob the best bang for my buck mod I've done thus far. I consider it a preliminary mod for my car, because its something that may not make a load of horsepower or anything, but it will def be something I need once the real performance gainers start gettin put on. Enjoy!

it's totally worth the money. if you know anyone that has one, ask them to drive their car (if they'll let you!!). You'll add your name to this list in a heartbeat.
