I'm not going to go back and read the past 255 posts, but...

The G does have too much power for most 16 year old kids. I'm 18 now, and leaving for college in a few months. I'm surprised someone posted this because I've been losing some sleep over this too. Since I can't take my car with me to school, I was going to "give" it to my little bro who is, you guessed it, 16.

I understand where my shortcomings and lack of experience plays in, but on the other hand, this isn't exactly my second or third year driving either. Nor was the G my first car; I've had a chance to learn properly on a 96 Mitsubishi Gallant. When I say properly, I mean that I've had a chance to learn my way around oversteer and understeer and other handling dynamics on a car that didn't cost a grand if something broke.

Infiniti makes some pretty expensive cars IMO, and I wouldn't trust my brother to even drive my car if he wasn't responsible. The problem is that a responsible 16 year old will probably never learn to control a skid unless they are in a situation that necessitates it. (Skid school happens to be the option I'm considering for him.)

And at that age there is always that peer pressure/showing off to friends thing (why absolutely no one at my school knows the double parked G at the back of the lot is mine ). I've seen my brother give in to peer pressure before, so who's to say he won’t like to see how the car pulls at 80 next to his friend's civic.

All of the examples I've given have been about my brother, but they could just as well be for any other 16 year old. The G isn't necessarily a 'fast' car, but it is fast enough that someone could get in someone in trouble. Then again, the G going 75 mph could easily over take a Ferrari doing the speed limit....the driver chooses how fast to travel, not the car.

Here's the thing... The more crazy 16 year old kids get G's, M3's, etc, and crash them, (and seemingly not care, some of you), the more insurance goes up... People like me, and others pay for it. Now it's fine if mummy and daddy buy you the car, and pay your insurance, but surely your appreciation of money, and earning something is lost??

I don't think the power in a G35 should be a concern considering you can get a much cheaper, powerful car at 16. Honestly; the G35 is not really all that fast too. A Honda Accord V6 (some of the recommended car for parents to give to their teenage kids) is just as quick as a G35; same with the Camry XLE V6.

Although in Canada we have had a wave of imports; mainly R32 GTRs, FD3s, and MR2 TT. Alot of have been totalled within weeks of owning them, mainly by teenagers. Although I am sure it all depends on the person owning them and how they drive it.

wow way too many pages on this thread to read.. dunno if youve made your mind up or not..

my two cents: way too powerful. im in the uk and i got 350gt a couple months ago when i was 20 and thought about it alot before i decided to get it. my first car was a civic coupe (woop) with crap bhp and i did alot of stupid things, nothing that led to an accident, but enough to make me **** myself lol was 17 and its tempting lol, so wouldve definately been a bad idea if i got this G then.. saying that roads here are no good compared to the us, cus your roads are wider, smoother and thanks to the weather, on average drier so it is safer for high bhp cars i guess.

your choice at the end of the day, let us kno what you decide! good luck =)

I have a question... Is this a 16 year old kid on here or is it a parent? And who is purchasing the car?

g is to much power and car for a 16 year old. they should start off with a used , much less expensive car. then when they get some years of driving under there belt, they should get a nicer car. IF they mature and to get in to many wrecks.

it's all about maturity and experience.

I have 4 roommates. I have no problem giving my keys to some of em. Others, will never drive any of my cars. Not even the beater corolla.

I don't let anyone drive my car mostly because most of them are 16-18 yrs old and I don't really think they are responsible enough. I may not be as well, but it's my car to wreck =] and I feel like I am more responsible than most of my friends
