Mr. Steven Blake... I technically graduated 1 year early and you don't see me bragging about it... I wish I got a G as a gift, instead I got 1K cash (better than nothing). No offense but IMO you're sorta spoiled. You're currently attending high school and your driving a ****ing G35 coupe.. That right there is probably the best thing ever when you're in high school.

My first car was a 1977 Honda Civic CVCC with 53HP. That was more power than I needed to get myself into trouble. It's not the car, it's the individual. I like to think I've matured a bit since then, but man I had a lot of fun in that car and it was damn near bulletproof.

i was 17 and a month when i got my g (like 4 months ago). but im super responsible for my age. i had a honda accord for over a year before i got it. i think if you pay for it, or some of it yourself, a 16 year old kid could be responsible enough to drive it. i have also noticed that driving a stick makes you more focused, kids driving autos will only cause them to get distracted and they could fvck up.

Just because i play alot of video games doesnt make me good at them,
Just because i have written 1000 papers doesnt make me a good writer,
Just because i play baseball everyday doesnt make me starting pitcher,
Just because i have 26 years of driving inexperience doesnt make me a good driver,
you need to take in account alot more than age with this car.
The question(s) should then be
Is a G good for my "responsible" son/daughter? yes/no
Is a civic good for my "irresponsible" son/daughter? yes/no
and to the one guy who works for the insurance agency, cmon dont act like people dont get screwed over by insurance companies. Im not knocking on you btw, just sayin ;p

Too much power? No such thing... when I was 17 I drove the living $hit out of my '87 4-speed Escort, I used to do drop-clutch spinouts and light up the front tires at every other light, and I wrecked it twice. I say it doesn't matter how much or how little power your first car has, if you're 17 and irresponsible/inattentive, you'll do stupid things and get in trouble.
The reason youngsters pay more for insurance is because many of them are bad drivers like I was. Horsepower has very little to do with it. If you think a 90HP Escort with a dumb kid behind the wheel can't do as much damage as a 300HP G35, you're horribly wrong.
