6. trey.hutcheson (from the factory) - 32k miles, stillen airbox, ztube, mrev+, test pipes, exhaust - part throttle, heavy throttle, low rpms, WOT, cool, hot
7. Foo_G ( on acceleration and in high RPM it is really bad )
8. SHaigh (stock, discovered @6K miles, when engine is very warm, details in other thread)
9. 6MTzer (low rpm's, comes and goes, usually when the outside temp is hot.)Motordyne Plenum Spacer.
10. droppin_deuces (thanks for starting this BythaBay)

Agreed that low rpm ping on warmer days is unfortunately normal for us. Throwing my name on the list and bringing thread back for the benefit of newer users. New threads are still getting created on this topic. Good info here along with another thread linked in this one.

I just had my motor/flywheel/clutch replaced and still get that low rpm ping so I hope that ruled out a few things lol.

Still pinging, now with my VQ replacement with only slight oil consumption.
Dealer blew it on getting Consult II Alpha numbers correctly. They did those at idle and not under load like I asked

Getting Cipher and do my own Diagnostics. I'm on this like flies on ....
I'll give the 411 if I find anything.
Still haven't done iso thermal gaskets, but think it's something else now.

Holy Cow!! Those were your A/F % Alphas? Normal range on those are supposed to be 95%-105% on G35's. Below or above those will cause detonation.

NO kidding the car sounded like a nickle in a tin can..
They kept telling me to drive it like that. Then the car started shifting funny and had no acceleration at all. ZIP!!! I kept taking back 5 times total even called Nissan. It did nothing for me. They would not give me a loner car and it my DD. I need the car to get to work. SoI got feed up and traded it in for a 08 G35X-SDOMO

Nice up-grade congrats and welcome to the G35 family...
I have the revup VQ, so it's embarrassing when it pings on take-off and turns heads b/c of those nickels in a tin can lol...I like that analogy

Anyway...will update when/if I find my cause and/or solution.

Thanx love the G, Except for the brake pedal vibration that started last week. God man only 800 miles on her. Will be going to the dealer tomorrow for them to fix it. But I do love the car.. How long has it been now that you have been dealing with this. I know on mine I was pushing themto start with the O2's and work back towards the ECU. But they ofcourse did not want to hear it.

Essentially what I'm going to do. Dealer help with warranty fix with my Cipher results or not. Anyone with a Nissan Consult II they want to sell me which would be better lol. I already have a factory service manual

Been dealing with it a long time. Recently got a fresh VQ with no ping in beginning, now started again like my old VQ oil burner did all the time. I'm leaning toward crappy oem tune learn targets, but going to check all related sensors/components for issues first and while it's still completely heat-soaked. Still that old theory I have.

Know combustion efficiency is top notch from my last UOA (used oil analysis) done while pinging, so it's not a dirty combustion environment or dirty injectors causing my low rpm knocking. Even changed from my usual fill station with a different storage tank (hopefully with higher tank turn-around too); no real difference. Step at a time *sigh*

I have never used anything but 93 sometimes 94 when I can find it. When you check all your sensors check both O2's the voltage on mine never moved either at idle oe under load. They never threw a CEL and the dealer never replaced( refused to). Also the EGR solinoid could be stuck open..The gas thing did not work for me either tried 4 different stations and even octane boost, TB clean and injector cleaner. Zip.. The only thing other than the O2's were the ECU..
