Rev light?
I'm confused...do the 2006 Coupe 6MT have the red light? I haven't seen it.
But I do have a yellow "REV" light that stays on constantly. I keep expecting it'll turn off after I reach a certain number of miles, but so far (3000+ miles) it still stays on.
I remember this light from my test drive, it would only come on when the car neared the redline. I didn't realize you could change the point at which it activates. How do you do that?
I wasn't able to find anything in the manual about it.

Push the data-stem on the cluster until it cycles to the RPM option (probably set at 8000). Once there, turn the stem to change the designated RPM to what you want. FWIW, the red light (below REV) will start to flash 500RPM before the RPM point you set, at which time it goes constant.
I have mine set at 6600, so that it starts to flash at 6100. During spirited driving around town I usually don't go above 6000RPM, so it hardly ever lights. It's a slight reminder to watch the fast revs during that top 600-900RPM in case I find myself running someone.

But what about the yellow/orange light that says "REV"? What is that and how do I get rid of it?
The '05 may have the same process to change it. I may not be remembering correctly.
As for the yellow REV light it can't be turned off but could probably be disconnected.
My thoughts on it's pressence are pretty simple: If it wasn't there, people would be wondering (more importantly, wasting dealer/manufacturer time and effort asking) why they were sometimes getting a flashing red light that would sometimes come on constantly for a moment.
If the flashing light said REV, you wouldn't ever be able to read it while it's flashing. Therefore, you have the REV indicator light indicating where the red shift-light will appear.
I think most of the cars come with it set at 8000RPM to avoid confusion among potential buyers and new owners.
