Sticker in front of rear wheels?

What is that sticker looking thing in front of the rear wheels? Is it clear or is it color matched?

I'm not too sure I like it. When the car gets dirty you can see a big dirty outline around it and most people think its a big scratch on your car. Has anyone removed this thing?

Uh... I definitely wouldn't do that! Its a clear ding cover for the flare of the rear fenders. As low as this car is and with fender flare, the fenders would be rock pitted in no time without that protection.

My coupe was delivered to me without the stoneguards. The salesman thinks the prep guys may have mistakenly taken them off (it was one of the first coupes delivered). I made the dealer order them for me (at their cost). They are still on backorder.

Re: Sticker in front of rear wheels?

it is for protection. I over heard people talking to reps at the car show and it's pretty logical. The fairing flare out and would easilly catch rocks. It's something Nissan (or infiniti) didn't realize till after testing. That's a little flaw in the body design.

Re: Sticker in front of rear wheels?

Allmost all cars have that protection someplace or another. It was on my Lexus, my Z and Altima. I even have it on my truck. It is not really a design flaw.

yeah its not really a flaw, its just the car is real low to the ground with wide wheels/stance and doesnt have mudgaurds

sorry to resurect this thread, but has anyone taken theirs off and experienced NO dings or chips?
those clear decals looks really bad as soon as the car gets a bit of dust on them.

If you think a little dust which can easily be wiped off looks bad wait until you see all the rock chips after removing the film. i have owned several vehicles with and without this protection on the flared body panels and I can tell you that you don't want to remove it. Just use a California duster and it'll fix up the little issue you're talking about.
BTW it's coloured like the car and is not clear.

wait another year or two. it will be down to metal. Its a turbulent area. Nissan found that in the wind tunnel. that area will be sand blasted alittle every day. Its not about rock chips at all. They could care less about that.

FYI, My car is 13 months old and the passenger side already has 3 scuffs/scratches in the 3M type material. I have almost 14k miles on the G and most of those are highway miles. Initially I was going to remove this material but fortunately I never got around to it.

When the dust and dirt collects around the edge, just use soapy water and a good claybar (I use zaino) and in 2-3 minutes the dirt will be gone.
