Anyone have the "factory" alarm?
Anyone have the "factory" alarm?
I just got my car on Sunday. Love it! I purchased the alarm and LoJack as well. But I just backed out on the LoJack....felt it was overpriced. Here is my question......The alarm that I am having installed next week is called "KARR". Any of you heard of it? I guess it's not really a factory alarm per se since an installer is doing the job. But this was the system that the dealer sold me. It basically adds a shock sensor and the factory system still operates as is.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Anyone have the "factory" alarm?
I probably paid to much.....$400.00. If I did pay too much, it shows my naivete with car alarms. This is the first car I have owned even worth having an alarm. They will be installing it at my office on Tuesday. I don't want anything elaborate since I don't want my alarm going off with every "fart in the wind" in the middle of the night.....my condo does not take kindly to car alarms. So, I thought with only a shock sensor, the alarm will be less prone to going off all the time.

Re: Anyone have the "factory" alarm?
$400. Sounds like hey are charging you $350 in labor. Why bother putting another alarm on anyway. Have you ever heard a alarm going off in a parking lot and does anyone even notice. If you put a shock sensor in everytime a Harley goes by the alarm will sound..
Re: Anyone have the "factory" alarm?
Well, I thought it over....
Thanks for your advice guys.....I just called the dealer and told them to cancel the car alarm. More I think about it, $400.00 seems awful alot for a simple car alarm with just a shock sensor. And not to mention, who really does turn and look when a car alarm goes off? I don't.
Thanks for the sage advice to those who responded!

I would have to agree... I would keep the stock anti theft installed, Ditch the $400 add on alarm & add Lo-Jack... (plus you get a better insurance rate in some states for Lo-Jack)

lojack is a waste of money as well, my friend had lojack in his mustang, it was stolen and it took 3 days to find the car, by the time they fount it, it was sitting on bricks in an empty lot in opalocka completely stripped. take that $400 and get it tinted and get some good wax like klasse and save the rest for another mod in the future.
that's just my advice, but you don't have to take it.

Antrock (and others)....
Already took your advice...
I cancelled the cheapo overpriced alarm and LoJack. I figured the dealer wants to make a healthy profit. I may just get a nice aftermarket alarm someday but maybe not since I feel that if someone really wants your car, they'll take it no matter what.
