Service engine light

Since i had my car i for it's first service, when my gas tank gets down to less than 1/4 full(or empty) the light comes on, then when I fill up after a few trips it goes out, now this doesn't alway happen evey time it gets low on fuel. Anyone else had this experience, so far it doesn't seem to be a problem so I figure I'll wait till next service unless I hear otherwise.

Re: Service engine light

It is most likely due to not having you gas cap on tight. You must be sure to tighten it until it clicks, otherwise it'll cause the Service light to come on. If not, check the cap to be sure it is not defective, ie: screwed up threads or bad seal area.
Dealer should replace it for free if nothing else.

Re: Service engine light

I always make sure it click, but the light coming on doesn't happen all the time. It hadn't done for a moth or so and came on this am.
I read something also on www.nissan-techinfo.com/infiniti re: TSB's regarding something to do with automatic trany & Check engine light coming on but no more details, anyone heard of this one
