just got FI metallic HFC, odd noise, suggestions please
ya you have to listen for it but it sounds like what we have all been talking about if there is a way out im going for it otherwise i might do away with the pipes all together an just stick with an exhaust i dont know its annoying i hope a solution is found

Unless some1 can build a test-pipe with the largest and longest resonator, guess what, you will get some form of rasp regardless. If FI couldn't do it, I guess no1 can.

The thing is that, my evo 2 only has a flex joint on the passenger side. so the theory rick has about the noise coming from the flex joints isnt neccessarily 100% correct. i just listened to that clip - and the noise im hearing is not present.....i may have a seperate problem =\ its more of a loud aluminum rattle almost as if my liscense plate was rattleing - and its about 1-2 seconds long
i wouldnt call it a rattle...i wish i had time to make and upload some sound clips for you guys...but my car is 1/4 mile from where i live and it's frickin 40 something degrees here...and it's getting colder

When you change the fundamental tuning characteristics of an exhaust system, by adding TP's or HFC's - you will be subject to a number of possible issues likes this. The systems are designed to work with stock cats and no headers...whether they work or not is irrelevant. systems are designed on stock cars otherwise. This 'noise' is also not only happening with FI TP's and HFC's. Listen closely to other clips of countless cars on this and the 350Z forum...once most people add these to their cars - rasp is inherent immediately.
Not to 'sell' at all...but these sounds don't seem to be present when the TP's and HFC's are coupled with our Intimidator system. This system was specifically designed to to work together properly. You'll also notice that, and far as I know, there aren't any other companies out there supplying a catback and HFC's and TP's all designed to work together...

Remove Heat Shields To Cure The Rattle
The rattle is coming from the hfc bouncing off the heat shields. I had the same problem with mine. I put my car on the lift and had someone rev it for me. I saw what was happening and removed the heat shield between the hfc and underbody(very simple fix). This is because they can be a tight fit and are pushed against the sides of the under carage. I guess it is hard to mimick oem. Once the heat shield is removed, the rattle will be cured, BUT the hissing will remain. I can't figure out what the problem is. I believe it is the mesh inside the pipes. I will let you know if I figure it out.
