one more thing, if it was stolen, who wants a car that was stolen? Most people with cars like ours worst nightmare is having it stolen and then getting it back. knowing that our cars are pretty fast and fun to drive, you can bet whoever took it for it's little joyride probably beat the hell out of it and it will never be the same. I would buy it for 12k. if worse came to worse, you could part the car out and make most of your money back. But not if you spend 18k to 20k, just my 2 cents

I sent the guy an e-mail and this is what he said....

Do you have pictures of the car before it was repaired? What else can you tell me about the accident? Is anything else wrong with the car? Im very interested so get back at me asap thanks

No unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the vehicle before it was repaired. I bought the car as it stands from a new car dealer in which the vehicle was traded in on a new vehicle. The car needs absolutely nothing. I drive the car everyday and it drives like new. Let me know when you want to come and check it out.
Thank you fro your interest,
Joe

be very wary of this, by him saying he has no knowledge of anything previous, he's basically saying if u have a problem & bring it to his attention later
...his answer will be "I had no idea". & its your problem now

if ur still interested ....what he's saying is a possiblity so ask for the new car dealers name & number (the one he bought it from) so you can find out more info about it. If they dont have any info on the car then you are seriously gambling with ur $$$$$
ask him for a 3 day money back gaurantee, & say if I bring the car back I'll pay you $1 for every mile I put on it & get price down to 16,500. that is still under book value of a 04 G coupe with previous salvage history.

your main objective is to find which insurance company totalled the car, if u do, u can call then & pay $20 (sometimes its no charge) for a damage report. it will list every part, nut & bolt that was damaged in accident.

this is a lot of BS to got thru shopping for a car plus, really & truly if you shop around u can find a clean title one for maybe 25k, but if saving an extra $8k-$9k is what u are looking for, then u got some homework to do

You should just go to the dealer and spend the extra money...
Salvage title cars always have something wrong with them from electrical to just not riding right. Go get you something worth the money....buy a pre-owned or new one with that money.

Um you are getting ready to make a $20,000 mistake but won't pony up $20 for 30 days of carfax? This is not the time to be cheap.

salvage

yeah that price is too hight, more like 13-15 tops. The car could have frame damage that was straightened which makes the car never the same. I've heard stories of salvage title cars blowing tranny's constantly because the drive train is slightly off...

Im going to look at the car on friday, so I just trying to get some info that would help me out. He is another e-mail I sent him....

Where was the car hit? Did it have engine damage? How many owners? Service records? I would like to come look at it friday, can you play with the price at all? Rebuilt 350z and g35 sell for $12-17k

I do have the carfax, but other than that i know nothing about the car. This car has only 15,000 miles, the rebuilt G35 coupes you may have seen for $17,000 have 40,000 miles. This car will definitely not be sold for close to $17,000. When this car was repaired, it was not a hack job, it was professionally repaired. Feel free to come and check out it and see for yourself.

If you can't see that the guy just wants to get you there and that you won't be able to see the damage that would make the car a bad deal, then you deserve to buy that POS.

Buddy, the key word here is "SEEMS". I took that risk when I was buying my used '04, but I made sure the car is under warranty. You will have no warranty and looks like you'll never find out what happened. I think what most people in this thread are saying is don't be so excited and don't get it.
Good luck.

He's most likely lying about knowing the extent of the damage. Once he gets you there, he will tear you a new one in the negotiations and you will end up paying $18-$19,000 for a pile of ****.

Hell, you won't even fork over $15 for a carfax on your own.

I actually purchased a salvaged 2001 Acura Integra GS-R [theft] and it turned out to be a great car. I purchased it from a mechanice and got a HUGE discount. Personally, if you're going to be spending 20k on a salvage title, why not spend more and get a car in better shape?

I lucked out on my salvage car, but now-a-days, the discount is just not worth all the problems in the future.

edit: Definitely make sure it isn't a "Katrina Car". If it is, this shoudln't be a tough decision.

The main reason I would like to buy this car is because of the mileage only 15k. But it looks like 90% of you guys are saying I shouldn't buy it, so when I go there tomarrow I will see what Im going to do
