Weird streaks on windows
Re: Weird streaks on windows
Hooter,
Funny you mention it (and I didn't want to b!tch), but yes, it takes forever for the inside of my doors to dry out after I wash (or it rains hard). I am a little concerned about that too!
Also, somebody in this thread said not to use Windex on tint. For real? This is my first car with tint, so I haven't a clue. I usually just use a slightly damp mircrofiber towel to clean my windows. So far, Windex is the only thing I have found that cleans of that grease/glue or whatever the he!! it is. I have a 3 year warranty on the tint and a 4 year lease - should I be concerned? What will Windex do to the tint?

Re: Weird streaks on windows
I am not having the "grease" streak problem, just the wet that screws up my clean window after I have detailed the car.
The windex is bad due to the ammonia, I was told. Apparently it will discolor the tint over time. Of course tints may have evolved to be less affected.
I have been using a bottle of "Plastic Polish" made by Eagle one for years to clean the window tint on the inside of the windows. It works great and I have never had a problem.

Re: Weird streaks on windows
hey JN, any windex with ammonia shouldnt be used for tint, it will create a layer of film on the window, thats as far as i know... There are tons of car window cleaners that are tint-safe at your local auto parts stores like Murray's or AutoZone
good luck!

Re: Weird streaks on windows
Just don't use windex or other alcohol based products
WINDEX IS FINE TO USE ON TINTED WINDOWS, IT'S NOT ALCOHOL THAT MESSES UP TINTED WINDOWS IT'S AMMONIA THAT MESSES THEM UP, JUST FYI

Re: Weird streaks on windows
I believe that the ammonia can also affect the adhesive that bonds the tint to your windows. In fact one of the ways that they REMOVE tint is to tape a plastic film covering the window that is saturated with an ammonia solution so the fumes loosen the tint. They then clean off the remaining residue with ammonia.
