i have noticed in the last few weeks that the center console - especially the ash tray area, is BURNING hot after a decent drive. I am talking to the point where you cant put your hand on it cause it is that hot....... anyone else have this problem?

im wondering if my HFC play a role in this - i never noticed that area to be so hot

damn I have the same thing, I took off my HFC's and it's still doing it. I also plan on taking the car to the dealership. It gets pretty dang hot. I noticed it as I was reaching into the ashtray for some change for the parking meter, and it caught me off gaurd

I remember that my Alpine CD player in my old Isuzu Rodeo would get really hot and anything around it would get hot. Maybe it's from our radio? Try driving without the radio on or any AC/Heater functions on too. If it still gets hot, that should eliminate the CD / Radio.

see if you can look under the car to make sure the rubber boot under the shifter is on. might be heat from the exhaust coming up through that.

There was a guy on these boards who only a few months ago posted pics of discoloration of his ashtray area, and I remember one of the theories was that it was due to excessive heat (and he was not a smoker). https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...hlight=ashtray From the pics it was obvious that his ashtray area had turned brown in color. It was odd, and although the OP never found out WHY this was happening, he said the dealer fixed it for free.

Maybe yours will end up like his if the problem isn't worked on. Do you still have a warranty?

im used to the excessive heat from the engine bay area, under my feet. but this is something else - my ashtray area is literally burning hot, if i touch the inside of the ash tray its really hot and the metal section on the roof of the inside is burning to the touch. no idea......HFC's would have been my guess, or maybe that boot? not sure what your talking about - but they did replace my tranny, maybe they left something off? or the tv and nav2go unit thats tucked under there and/or the fact im taping the power and ground from the cigarete lighter......or the radio itself.

either way im taking it in
